Leading and Learning Workshops are designed to provide critical, point-in-time support to educators on urgent problems of practice. Our 4-hour virtual workshops offer adaptive and collaborative learning environments for school and district leaders to increase their toolkit of best practices around: establishing and leading a high-performing team; planning for high-quality instruction; observation and feedback; and coaching.

Teacher Leaders
Leading for Equity
In this workshop leaders will uncover how equity drives the work of transformational leaders. Participants will examine the intersection of personal leadership and equity as they critically reflect on their own leadership practices through the lens of their conscious and unconscious biases. Leaders in this workshop will also engage in consciousness-raising processes to identify and address their beliefs and biases and the impact they have on their leadership practice, their teams, and the students they serve.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Describe/evaluate how personal leadership and equity impact instructional excellence and drive the work of a transformational leader
- Identify and address biases and beliefs that hinder instructional excellence and equity
Leading a High-Performing Team
In this workshop, participants will learn strategies to tap into teacher leadership and elevate teacher voices to create and maintain a high-performing teams that center equity and instructional excellence.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Establish a team vision of instructional excellence and equity that promotes a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment
- Examine the impact of a leader's values, beliefs, and behaviors on team dynamics and structures
- Understand how to translate equity-focused beliefs into equitable practices
- Establish high-performing teams that use collaborative planning structures and tools to create a culture of professional learning and root out inequitable practices
Instructional Excellence in ELA and/or Math
In this workshop, participants will learn the collaborative structures and processes required to lead their team in selecting and creating high-quality, culturally responsive, standards-aligned tasks that promote equitable outcomes.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Use the Instructional Core to analyze tasks for alignment to high-quality, culturally responsive curriculum
- Develop high-impact instructional strategies to guide implementation of equitable instruction in ELA and/or math
Lesson Planning for Instructional Excellence and Equity
In order to support students in their mastery of high-quality tasks, teachers must deliver high-quality instruction. In this workshop, participants will learn how to mitigate the impact of inequitable and ineffective instructional practices by developing strategies that provide excellent teaching and transformational learning for ALL students. Participants will also learn protocols to facilitate collaborative planning meetings such that team members anchor their planning for initial instruction in the Instructional Core, use accelerations and interventions to address unfinished instruction, learn from one another by sharing best practices, and are open to observing each other’s practices.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Align high-impact instructional strategies to areas of focus or need to increase mastery for all students
- Create Task Exemplars to calibrate on student mastery expectations to ensure they are rigorous and equitable
- Use collaborative planning to develop effective initial instruction, making immediate shifts to inequitable instructional practices
Assistant Principals
Leading for Equity

Building an Equity-Focused School Culture
In this workshop participants will create a clear and compelling mission and set of shared values and behaviors aligned to a vision of instructional excellence and equity that leads to student and adult success. Leaders in this workshop will also design the equitable systems and structures needed to build and/or re-establish trusting relationships with critical stakeholders, invest adults and students in behavioral expectations, and establish high expectations for learning across classrooms.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Develop a compelling mission and series of shared value statements and behaviors that lead to student and adult success
- Identify practices necessary to realize the vision for instructional excellence and equity and execute cultural norms and behaviors rooted in collective efficacy
- Create strong relationships that support equity between and among staff members and with students, families, and communities

Transformative Leadership: Change Begins With Me
In this workshop, leaders will critically examine and reflect on their personal leadership, their well-being, and the impact their leadership has had on teachers and students. Throughout the workshop, participants will define what it means to be an ambitious, equity-focused leader who delivers outsized gains for students.
Outcomes/Competencies:
- Reflect on personal leadership strengths and areas of opportunity to inform next steps for personal growth
- Diagnose, address, and evaluate current school-wide policies, behavior expectations, protocols, and procedures for biases and unjust practices
- Develop and learn how to use your own personal leadership to facilitate critical conversations that lead to dismantling inequitable practices
Successfully Implementing Transformational Change
No matter what the dynamics of the school year may bring, there are a few critical things that school leaders must do to develop and/or re-establish a strong school culture: 1) build relationships; 2) care for the well-being of staff and students; and 3) ensure high-quality learning and teaching (core instruction, interventions, and accelerations). In this workshop, school leaders will explore the interdependencies between instructional excellence and equity, the well-being of students and staff, and the relationships that are necessary to move and sustain this work. As they develop their understanding of what principals need to know and do to effectively accelerate learning through strategic instructional practices, participants in the workshop will also deepen their ability to address the social-emotional needs of students and educators.
Outcomes/Competencies
- Establish an aligned vision of instructional excellence and equity that promotes a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment
- Use observation of the instructional core to calibrate and provide feedback on teacher practice
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with students, staff, caregivers, and community members to ensure equity, strengthen partnerships, and create the collective efficacy that all students can achieve at high levels
Principal Supervisors
Transformative Leadership: Change Begins With Me
In this workshop, leaders will critically examine and reflect on their personal leadership, their well-being, and the impact their leadership has had on school leaders, teachers and students across the system. Systems Leaders: A Crucial Connector
In this workshop, district leaders will explore their role as “connectors,” making concrete connections, alignment, and coherence between district policies and school-level implementation while also navigating the tension between district-wide consistency in implementation and flexibility in differentiating principal support.
Outcomes/Competencies
- Evaluate current system-wide policies, behavior expectations, protocols, and procedures for biases and unjust practices
- Create and refine systems and support structures for principal execution and equitable implementation of district initiatives, policies, and expectations
- Learn to leverage your role as a liaison between the school and the district to bring attention to practices at the systems level which are having an adverse and/or biased impact on students
