Welcome to the website for New Leaders, Inc., (“New Leaders”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring high academic achievement for all children, especially students in poverty and students of color, by developing transformational school leaders and advancing the policies and practices that allow great leaders to succeed.  This Privacy Policy describes the information New Leaders collects about you, how we use and share that information, and the privacy choices we offer. This policy applies to information we collect when you use New Leaders® website (the “Website”).  Please note that another privacy policy applies to our learning management platform. Use of this Website is also subject to the Website’s Terms and Conditions of Use.

Please carefully review the following Privacy Policy before using the Website for any purpose. Your use of the Website represents your consent to, and acceptance of, this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree or are not comfortable with any policy described in this Privacy Policy, you should discontinue your use of the Website. By providing us with any information via the Website, you represent that you are authorized to disclose and provide us with such information and that the information you provide to us is true and accurate.

Information We Collect
While we automatically collect technical information about visitor’s interactions with our site, generally, you may browse the public area of the Website without providing your personally identifiable information. However, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information in connection with certain features of the Website, such as subscribing to an electronic newsletter, registering to attend an information session, submitting an application to one of our programs, submitting an employment application, or making a donation. Such information may include your first and last name, email address or other contact information, and other information requested for your use of that action.  We may also assign you a unique user ID that you will use each time you access the nonpublic area of the Website.

How We May Use the Information You Provide
We may use the personally identifiable information you provide through this Website to perform a variety of business activities and in connection with the programs and services we provide (“Services”), such as:

  • To update your information in our database,  
  • To contact you with news or updates,  
  • To process your application or other request,
  • To administer New Leaders’ Website and systems and for troubleshooting purposes,

Information about you may be stored by New Leaders, including contact information we collect when you send us an email.  

This Privacy Policy does not apply to content, business information, ideas, concepts, or inventions that you send to New Leaders by email. If you want to keep any information private or proprietary, do not send such information in an email or otherwise post such information on this Website.

We may also use data that has been de-identified and/or aggregated for product development, research, analytics, and other purposes, including for the purpose of analyzing, improving, or marketing New Leaders’ programming and services and improving and enhancing the Website.

How We May Disclose the Information You Provide
Information that we collect about you may be visible to the Website’s administrators, other New Leaders staff, third-party service providers to New Leaders who assist us in the conduct of our business or work with or on behalf of us to provide some of the Services and features of the Website and to help us communicate with you (“Service Providers”), or third-party entities with which we partner to deliver the Services. The Service Providers do not have any independent right to use and/or share your information with any party other than us, except as provided by law or pursuant to a legal requirement, such as a subpoena or warrant.

If you submit a donation through this Website, you may be redirected to a third-party payment processor and asked to enter personal information, including your credit card information, directly into the third-party payment processor’s system for payment processing purposes.

We may also share directory information, including information that identifies New Leaders program participants, programs taken, certifications obtained, or other related directory information, with other program participants or third parties.  Please see our Notification of Directory Information for more information, including on your right to opt-out of such sharing.  

In addition to the disclosures of information as described above, we may release your personally identifiable information to other third parties if we have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; (b) enforce applicable Terms and Conditions of Use, including investigation of potential violations thereof; (c) investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations; (d) detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; (e) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of us, our users, or the public; or (f) as required or permitted by law.

We may also disclose personal information in the event of a corporate reorganization.  If assets related to New Leaders that include the information we have collected about you are acquired by another legal entity, that legal entity will possess all information collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding any information provided to us by you as described in this Privacy Policy.

Other than as described herein, we will not share any information you provide through the Website with third-parties. 

YouTube

New Leaders may use YouTube to display video content on the Website. YouTube incorporates tracking technologies, which may be present in the YouTube videos embedded on the Website, which may collect information from your browser when you view the video on the Website, including device identifiers and/or cookie IDs. This information is collected directly and automatically by YouTube and its partners, and New Leaders does not participate in these data transmissions. New Leaders does not provide any personal information, such as user names, to YouTube.  We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party platforms or services you may interact with.

Use of Cookies and Other Internet or Tracking Technologies
A cookie is a text file that is stored by a website on a user’s computer to track usage of the website and customize the site experience based on users’ tendencies. We may use cookies to simplify registration and login for the services we provide through this Website and to improve the user experience while using the Website. We may also use cookies or other internet technologies to distinguish you from other users of the Website, identify the website from which you linked to the Website, help diagnose technical problems, and improve the quality and types of services that will be delivered by us in the future. This data will be used at our sole discretion and may be shared, as provided in this Privacy Policy. If you prefer, you may set your browser to reject cookies or to notify you when a website attempts to send a cookie into your hard drive (provided that your browser has that capacity).  Please note that our Website does not respond to browser do-not-track signals.

Opt-out Options
If you do not wish to receive periodic emails from us with news and Website updates, you may opt-out of receiving such communications in the future by sending an email to marketing@newleaders.org or, if applicable, by following the instructions on our email newsletters or notices. If you elect to notify us by email, please include your full name and email address and indicate “unsubscribe from email updates” in the subject line. It may take a few days or longer to process your request during which time you may still receive such communications from us. You may also still receive administrative emails from us, and we may also contact you to request additional information and feedback.

Updating Your Account Information
You can update your account information by notifying us by email at marketing@newleaders.org. You are responsible for providing us with your current email address. In the event the last email address that you have provided to us is not valid, or for any other reason is not capable of delivering to you any notice described in this Privacy Policy, our dispatch of the email containing such notice will nonetheless constitute effective notice.

Security
You are responsible for securing your unique user ID at all times. If the security of your unique user ID has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately notify us at marketing@newleaders.org. We have implemented features designed to protect the security of accounts stored in our database. We cannot, however, guarantee the security of such accounts. Hacking, software or hardware failure and other unauthorized access to our premises or systems may compromise the security of our member accounts.

Children’s Privacy

The Website is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 and in the event that we learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided information on the Website, we will delete that information as soon as possible.

International Users

The Website is intended for use in and by individuals located in the United States.  Personally identifiable information collected from you, including via the Website, will be transferred to New Leaders in the United States where this Website is hosted.  Please do not use the Website if you do not agree to the transfer and processing of your personally identifiable information by New Leaders as described in this privacy policy or if it is illegal to do so in your home country.

The Website may include links to other websites. We are not responsible for the content of and privacy policies on other websites. When logging in to another website, you should read the privacy policy and terms of use of such website (even if such website is also operated by New Leaders). We encourage you to read the privacy policy and terms of use of each and every website that you visit.

We may change this Privacy Policy, at any time, without notice, by posting such change on the Website. We may apply changes to information previously collected, to the extent permitted by law.
