Since the beginning of the New York City program in 2001 and the Newark program in 2008, New Leaders’ schools have driven toward high academic achievement for all of the students in their buildings.

During the 2011 school year, New Leader K-8 schools in New York City outperformed the district. New Leader schools made an average proficiency gain of 9 percentage points in math and reading combined. This compares to only 4 percentage points among all New York City students.

 

 

School Results

  • Brighter Choice Community School was the highest gaining school in all of New York City in 2011. It had a proficiency gain of 102 percentage points in math and reading combined.
  • School for Environmental Citizenship, led by Heather Dawe, was eighth highest gaining school in New York City in 2011, with a proficiency gain of 35 in math and reading combined.
  • Science, Technology, and Research Early High School at Erasmus, led by Dr. Eric Blake, had a proficiency gain of 28 percentage points in math and reading combined, as did the Science and Technology Academy: A Mott Hall School, led by Patrick Awosogba.
